Surgery #3

Today was McKena's 3rd surgery... 2nd Dental surgery. I'm thinking this all started way before I was blogging so to catch some of you up here is the story. Right around her 3rd Birthday a little boy threw one of those plastic fisher price blocks at her, hitting her mouth. It broke the front 2 teeth off & they had to do emergency work on her to pull the roots. So a few months go by & the 2 teeth next to the ones that are now gone.. started turning black, we took her back in & they told us they must have knicked them when they pulled the roots on the first 2. So.. in we go for her first dental surgery because the child was seriously traumatized at this point. I won't go into detail on what happened during the original emergency work. Its was INSANE what they did to her! While they pulled her 2 teeth that were now dead because of them, they also filled a few cavities. 2 years go by (present day..lol) she starts complaining of her tooth hurting etc. we take her in & they tell me she has 3 absessed teeth!! All molars that USED to have fillings the Army put in 2 years ago. All of the fillings had fallen out & the teeth got infected. So we opted for the dental surgery again because she would have had to go in for 1 tooth at a time making this a long drawn out process & possibly once again.. traumatizing her from dentists. So today was the day & it went smoothly. The surgery center was AWESOME! Her dentist is awesome to! We were there 3.5 hrs & they extracted the 3 molars (there was no saving them) put in spacers in those spots & 2 root canals on teeth next to the bad ones that shared the infections. If that makes any sense. She is a little puffy as you can see in the picture but she is doing good tonight.

A side story... every surgery she has had we have gotten her a lamb when she was done. We lucked out today & the gift shop had 1 left. Its cute & cuddly for her.
