Kelsi was born! Today she turned 8, I can't believe she is 8 yrs old already. We gave her a few presents to open today & she wanted a Halloween theme cake. She really wanted another Halloween Birthday Party but since we are not in our house yet we will be having a birthday party at the bowling alley next weekend. :o) Yesterday we took her to Chuck E Cheese & they all had a fun time.
Today McKena's class went to the Carson Valley Museum & cultral center. We learned a few things one of them being the guy that invented the Ferris Wheel lived in Carson Valley. Their class dressed up as Railroaders & they met another Kindergarten class from another elementary school in town there. That class was the Ranchers. Each class had a song they sang to the other one.
Kelsi also had a field trip today they went to Tahoe to Taylor Creek to learn about the Salmon.
Yesterday we enjoyed a day at Apple Hill with our friends Kelly & Robert. We visited 5 orchards where we picked apples, picked pumpkins, the kids rode ponies, waited in line forever for a apple pie! lol

On this page his job is to "fly" around in the sling looking deal its #4-6 on this page. :o) So far he loves it & finishes training tomorrow, some of the other new guys have been their 3 weeks & still are not done training. Ben has been there a week. :o) Sunday night he starts his actual graveyard shift! Only bummer is he has Tues. & Weds. off but at least he is nights so we can still do things on the weekends.

Today was an all day field trip to help conserve the Carson river with Kelsi's class & 4 others. We all got Red T-shirts to wear with all the sponsors etc. on it. They had 5 stations to go to & learn different things. The first one we went to was about erosion, we planted willow trees on the bank of the river.
Then we went to a group where we learned about the Washoe Tribe & how they live & survived living off the land before there was anyone else in the Valley. We learned some Washoe words for things & also a dance. Then a guy dressed up like Kit Carson did his presentation with lots of animal pelts & why the Moutain men/Settlers came to the area.
The next station was learning about the water cycle, they made bracelets & collected the beads that represented the different parts of the cycle at each cycle station.
Station 4 for us we tested the river water for the PH level, temperature & learned the different types of pollution & the effects of it.
We finished off the day learning about the insects & how they play a part in everything.
Yesterday we had a long day! We got up early & headed up to Tahoe to the Kokanee Salmon Festival at Taylor Creek. The kids got to see "Sammy" Salmon character, then received coloring books that they had to visit 4 stations throughout the spawning cycle of the salmon. At each station they learned a little about them & then received a prize (ex:coloring crayons, temp salmon tattoos. They also had a booth where the girls made spinner lures & painted fish. It was a fun time & was perfect weather. You had to follow Rainbow trail to the different cycle stages of the Salmon & then back around to the main area where the BBQ & activities were going on. For those of you down in the Sac area there will be a Salmon Festival this coming weekend Oct. 13&14 @ Nimbus Hatchery. Sounds like a fun one as well!
After that we headed out for lunch & made the way down to Sac. for Coles 2nd Bday. It was a late night getting home & my mom & Ben had to get up 4 hrs later to head to work. It was a fun busy day!! Hope you enjoy the pics :o)
Today we went to the Scarecrow making event in Minden. Kaitlyn & I made one of course she wanted to make a girl one, also has braids..lol McKena wanted to make a cowboy & she did 95% of it all by herself! Kelsi & my mom made one together as well. It took longer then we thought it would we were there about 2 hrs. but it was a lot of fun!
This past Weds. I went on a field trip with Kelsi's class to the library. We left the school & walked to Minden Park where we ate our sack lunches. Then we continued our walk to the public library. Once we got their the kids listened to what the library had to offer got some goodies in a bag including a little wallet to keep their library cards. They listened to a story & got a tour of the library, then were able to check out a few books. A bus picked us up & we headed back to the school a few mins. before the end of the day!
I thought it would be fun to see the difference between my 4 kids at 6 months old.
Kelsi (now 7) @ 6 months was.... 15lbs 12 oz 26 1/4"
McKena (now 5) @ 6 months was.. 15lbs 14 oz 26.5"
Kaitlyn (now 3) @ 6 months was... 12 lbs 8 oz 25.6"
Kody @ 6 months 21 lbs 10 oz 28"
Kaitlyn now @ 3.5 yrs old only weighs 29 lbs so Kody is creeping up on her quickly! lol
Once upon a time there were 2 Smith Families... who joined as 1 in 2012. Bringing together 6 children & 2 adults. In 2014 we brought our 7th baby home making our family complete. This is our life as a family of 9!
