Rafting..

Today my office went rafting in the Truckee River up at Tahoe. I've actually never been rafting and it was a lot of fun. The rafting, the lunch everything was paid for by the director which was really cool. I don't know anywhere else that pays for a office rafting day plus pays you for working that day. :o) I want to take Ben & the older 2 kids. We left the office at 9 am & got back at 430 pm. We also had lunch at one of the restaurants afterwards. The day was def. adventurous, we had all 11 of us in 1 raft & I believe we hit every rock, tree etc. that was in the river. lol 2 of them jumped in to help push us off stuff at different points but we never lost anyone over board accidentally. There def. was a few close calls though. I am beyond burnt & hoping that all the aloe vera gel I'm slathering on will help it not peel or it will turn tan :o).

Longggggggg Day

Today was a super long day for us, it started out early to go to VBS program at the church. That lasted just over 2 hrs then we left after the program instead of staying for the BBQ they were having afterwards because we had to be in Carson for Tyler's birthday. Tyler had a horse show up for rides which of course the girls loved. McKena LOVES horses.
Today was a nice wrap up to the week which also consisted of a baby shower yesterday. Been a busy busy week. Hopefully this next one is a little slower. :o)

Miss Nevada 2008

Last night I attended the Miss Nevada 2008 contest in Reno. My friend Kari Ramos (Miss Silver State) was competing. There were 10 contestants that competed in Swimsuit, Talent, Casual wear w/ question, and Evening Gown. It was also the 60th Anniversary of Miss Nevada Pageant so they had some prior years up there at one point.
So.. my conclusion at the end of the night is that if you are the snobbiest, totally fake person you win! lol Seriously 1 & 2nd place we were shocked with. 3rd place was ok.. but I had 3 favorites & none of them won. Kari did an AWESOME job!! I suppose that's why she didn't win cause heaven forbid they have a REAL person win. The winner was Miss Carson City, which was supposed to volunteer for us (@ work) & make an appearance at our Taste of Downtown last month.. & NEVER showed. That's a winner for ya!! 2nd place was Miss Carson Valley, she just turned in her application to be one of our volunteers (convenient the week before pageant!) She got recognized for being a Sexual Assault advocate. Humm... interesting!
Kari did get noticed for going above & beyond for the Children's Miracle Network. YAY!! Go Kari!!
We had VIP tickets & the stage was seriously a foot from my face. You can see it in some of the pictures.

Video..

Here is a video to the song they sing at Vacation Bible School. I haven't spotted McKena or Kati in it, but Kelsi pointed herself out. If you are looking almost center screen there is a guy in a white shirt dancing etc. when he moves.. you can see Kelsi facing you in the front row in purple shirt. I know its blurry but I was pretty far away from her & didn't even realize it was her since I was paying more attention to the camera. :o)

Ryker...

Today we went up & visited as well as took some pics. I have TONS of them & they came out soo good! He was perfect the whole time. :o)
He's yawning not crying.. Isn't his little crochet helmet cute??

Kody's 16 months

Today was his 16 month check up, he is doing good for the most part. His height shot up again last time he finally was slowing down.. not so much now. He is almost 27 lbs & 33.5" tall. Also received 2 shots & an a check for anemia. We also learned he has Keratosis which I have never heard of. Apparently its a follicular condition in which excess keratin accumulates within the hair follicles & creates bumps. Winter is worse then summer apparently & he should grow out of it....... in his late 20's! I thought she was going to tell me like 2 or 3 yrs old.. not in his 20's! So he will appear rashy from time to time.
Yesterday the girls started Vacation Bible School at the Crossroads Nazarene Church. Kati had a little bit of a rough time at first not wanting me to leave, but was ok apparently after I left. Today was a little better. They are having a good time & of course pictures will be coming before the week is over.

Jim Pagels CARES/SART Facility

Today I attended the Ribbon Cutting ceremony for this new facility. This will be the place where I go to be with the victims during their exams & victims from Northern Nevada & some CA counties will also have to go. Among the speakers & people that helped make this new facility happen were Senator John Ensign, Catherine Masto Nevada Attorney General, Senator William J. Raggio, Northern Nevada Medical Center CEO & Board with many others.
CARES ~ Child Abuse Response & Evaluations~
The CARES program is professionally staffed with nurse practitioners who are trained to conduct the forensic examinations of sexually abused children through age twelve. Pediatrician works in collaboration with the nurses to ensure that the best possible care is given to the victims and their families. CARES exams are scheduled through local law enforcement or Child Protective Services.
SART~ Sexual Assault Response Team~
SART is the adult sexual assault program which examines and treats victims ages thirteen and older. Adolescent and adult victims receive a forensic examination at the facility 24 hrs a day. SART nurses and Victim Advocates are dispatched immediately upon the report of sexual assault by law enforcement.

Blogs.. Blogs.. & More Blogs..

So slowly over time my list of blogs I read is growing. Now some of them (not mentioning NAMES.. lol) blog once every 6 months.. others blog multiple times a day. My newest blog finds are money saving/tips type blogs. I thought I'd share this in a post & you can check out the links to all the blogs, on the right towards the bottom of my blog there is a list. My new favorite is http://centsableadditude.blogspot.com/ I found out about a purina coupon for $4 which is great since that only leaves some cents to pay for it. :o) I'm not much of a coupon person, it has to be a steal of a deal for me to bother.. but some of you may be more into it then me. Check her blog out & see what kind of things you can benefit from.

Today Grandma took the girls to the bowling alley while I was at work & then after I got home they had a waterballon fight & ran through the sprinklers. I'm ready for winter! :o)
